Policies and Warranty Registration

Our Policies

Please read these policies carefully. If you have any questions please contact us by phone or email. We strive to give you an experience that you will enjoy from your first contact through the building process, and every time you play your Dantzig guitar. Our reputation has endured for over four decades because we treat our customers fairly and with respect. In return, we ask that you respect our expert opinion on how our work should be conducted. We have designed and built instruments for the best of the best, and ask that you understand that we know what we are doing. We want you to be among the long list of great musicians Jol Dantzig has worked with.

All electronics, parts and hardware are covered under the lifetime warranty that the original owner receives upon registration. Please see our warranty information (below) for details.

Deposits on all commissioned, custom order instruments are nonrefundable after work has commenced, or special materials have been sourced. We do not accept customer materials for builds as a general rule, but exceptions may be made with certain written understandings.

Dantzig Guitars is not liable for natural variations or failures of wooden materials and finishes that are beyond our control. However, Jol is known for his generosity and fairness—this is the promise we have always extended to our clients.

Artist’s Proof instruments are sold “as is” with no warranty implied or expressed. These instruments are used to evaluate different themes, hardware, and configurations, and are therefore not “new” in the traditional sense. They may show signs of use, as our artist friends often use them onstage as part of the evaluation process.

As always, we remind you that these instruments are made entirely by hand in Jol’s workshop, and are intended to reflect the character and esthetic choices he deems relevant and important. Therefore, custom orders are sold as a “one way” sale, and cannot be returned for esthetic choices.

Dantzig Guitars Limited Warranty

Welcome to the Dantzig Guitars family. As the original owner of a Dantzig instrument, you are entitled to a limited lifetime warranty. This warranty is non-transferable. Please use our online registration within 30 days of purchase to make sure that your warranty is validated. You can find the registration form below.

Although your limited warranty is valid for as long as you own your instrument, you should be aware of a few reasonable restrictions.

 What the warranty covers

Your Dantzig instrument is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship, to the original purchaser, for as long as he/she owns the instrument. This limited warranty constitutes the entire warranty of Dantzig Guitars with regards to its instruments. No representation or warranty by any salesperson, dealer, agent, representative or employee shall be binding upon Dantzig Guitars other than as expressly set forth herein.

What the warranty does not cover

The Dantzig Limited Warranty does not cover the following:

Wear and tear from normal use and any damage that is the result of misuse, abuse, or unauthorized modifications, damages from unauthorized or self-made repairs, improper maintenance, accidents, exposure to adverse temperature and/or humidity, and other careless action, which by its nature results in damage to the instrument or to components not manufactured by Dantzig Guitars.

This warranty is strictly limited to repair or replacement of any and all parts of the instrument found, under this warranty, to be defective upon examination by Dantzig Guitars. In no event shall Dantzig be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages.

Although we exercise great care to use the very highest quality finishing materials on this Dantzig instrument, cracking, or checking of the finish can occur due to adverse atmospheric conditions. The resulting cracking or checking is not covered under this warranty, nor is chipping from handling and normal use. Dantzig Guitars is not liable for natural variations or failures of wooden materials and finishes that are beyond our control.

Shipping and insurance charges to and from our shop for authorized repairs are the responsibility of the owner. Although we take great care in shipping any instrument, we are not responsible for any damage that occurs during shipping either to or from the factory.

THIS WARRANTY IS THE SOLE WARRANTY OF DANTZIG GUITARS AND IS GIVEN IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF FITNESS FOR PURPOSE AND MERCHANTABILITY.
